Nanaimo, BC –The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance will be hosting its fourth Annual State of the Island Economic Summit, October 25 & 26, 2010 at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in beautiful downtown Nanaimo. VIEA welcomes Premier Gordon Campbell to an impressive roster of Summit Speakers. 

“In 2008 Premier Gordon Campbell while presenting at the 2nd annual State of the Island Economic Summit indicated he was impressed with the collaboration on Vancouver Island and encouraged other regions of BC to follow suit.” states VIEA Chair Rick Roberts. “We are very pleased that Premier Campbell is returning to this year’s summit as we have initiated numerous programs and initiatives on Vancouver Island in the spirit of collaboration. We have come a long way since our launch in 2007.” 

The Vancouver Island State of the Economic Summit is a unique opportunity to look at the options and opportunities for business growth and the development of communities on Vancouver Island. “The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance is based on collaboration and the Premier’s successes working together with Provincial Stakeholders and the Western Provinces will reinforce the opportunities and potential there is for regional economic development on Vancouver Island,” states Roberts. 

Following the spirit of VIEA, SW Audio Visual and Nanaimo’s Array Studios have coordinated a public broadcast of the Premier’s Presentation at the Summit. SW Audio Visual will be covering the event while Array Studios is handling the web broadcast on www.viea.ca. 

“Vancouver Island needs to see presentations like this one,” comments Michael Reid, President of Array Studios. “With the online broadcast, more people can be a part of the Summit and take an active role in shaping Vancouver Island’s economic future.”
