Celeste Haldane, Chief Commissioner of the BC Treaty Commission, will be presenting one of four keynote speeches at the upcoming State of the Island Economic Summit.
Elected as Chief Commissioner of the BC Treaty Commission in April 2017 after being an elected Commissioner since 2011, Celeste Haldane is a practising lawyer and holds an LL.M. in Constitutional Law, and an LL.B. and B.A. In 2015, Celeste began her Doctorate in Anthropology & Law. She serves on the UBC Board of Governors and is the first Indigenous chair of the Legal Services Society. Celeste is a member of the Sparrow family from Musqueam and is Tsimshian through Metlakatla.
