An Evolving Economy
Vancouver Island’s economy is relatively diverse. Key industries include Tourism, Agriculture and Aquaculture, Forestry, Manufacturing, High Tech, and International Education. The contribution of each of these sectors varies by region. Tourism, Forestry and Manufacturing industries are found in all regions, while the High Tech industry is concentrated in the Capital region and to a lesser extent in Nanaimo. Agriculture production is primarily found from the Comox Valley south while most Aquaculture production occurs on the west coast and in the northern regions.
