The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance (VIEA) received FTZ designation for all of Vancouver Island from the Government of Canada on September 24, 2018. FTZVI is the first broad regional designation and the only such designation awarded to a non-government organization.

FTZVI enhances the Island’s recognition as an exporter of goods internationally while access to an inter-disciplinary government task force improves local understanding of and access to tax and duty deferral programs to improve cash flow for Island-based businesses that import products, materials, components for use in manufacturing products for export and/or other forms of adding value, repackaging, storage for eventual export.

It’s just the beginning…
