Health Care and Social Services on Vancouver Island

The health care and social service sector is one of the largest and fastest-growing industries due to both the ageing and the overall growth of the Vancouver Island population. This sector includes ambulatory healthcare services, doctors, dentists, facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes as well as social assistance such as counselling, family services, rehabilitation and child-care. This sector’s employment naturally exists in every part of the region, consistent with the need for residents of all communities to have access to these important services and facilities.
