PRESS RELEASE
VANCOUVER ISLAND ECONOMIC ALLIANCE
April 2, 2012
Transportation @ Linking Island Business event in Qualicum Beach:
A panel of speakers representing air travel, rail and barge services will explore how existing transportation service and infrastructure enhances or inhibits economic prosperity on the Island.
How can communities that are not directly linked to major transportation services better connect for tangible economic benefit? What infrastructure or services do we still need to facilitate economic growth?
Panelists will include Steve Roth, VP, Seaspan Ferries, Kevin Boothroyd, Director, Sales & Marketing, Pacific Coastal Air, Graham Bruce, Executive Director, Island Corridor Foundation, Mike Hooper, President & CEO, Nanaimo Airport Commission.
“As an Island economy, we live and die by the timeliness, cost, convenience and efficiency of all of our transportation connections to the mainland and to the rest of the world. This presentation will provide an opportunity to consider where we are, where we are headed, and what needs to be done to ensure that our transportation links are adequate” says George Hanson, VIEA President.
