Minister Bains to Speak at the Economic Summit About Teaming up with Industry to Turn Canada’s Competitive Advantages into Tomorrow’s Global Successes

The Government of Canada has recently granted a Foreign Trade Zone designation (FTZVI) to the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance. FTZVI will function as the ‘go to’ resource to promote and facilitate international trade on Vancouver Island. It is unique amongst the eleven FTZ Points across Canada as the only broad regional designation and the only designation awarded to a non-government organization.

” As the only country in the G7 linked to all the others through trade deals, Canada is uniquely positioned to support its domestic innovators with high export potential and help them scale-up into global successes, thereby creating good middle-class jobs for Canadians.”
— The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Canada’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development

How will Vancouver Island’s new Foreign Trade Zone designation work and what will it do for industry? And what will the new USMCA mean to our economy?

Join the discussion with panel experts at the Economic Summit later this month.

“The Economic Alliance is thrilled to be receiving this designation for all of Vancouver Island—a significant step towards balancing and diversifying our Island economy.  Now the work begins to take full advantage of our FTZVI designation.”
