An Evolving Economy
Vancouver Island’s economy is diverse. Key industries include Tourism, Agriculture, Aquaculture, Forestry, Manufacturing, High Tech, and Education. The contribution of each of these sectors varies by region. As an example, tourism, Forestry, and manufacturing industries are found in all regions, while the high tech industry is concentrated in the Capital region and to a lesser extent in Nanaimo. Agriculture production is primarily found from the Comox Valley south while most Aquaculture production occurs on the west coast and in the northern regions of the Island.
