The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance has announced Kate O’Neill, founder and CEO of KO Insights, as keynote speaker at the 14th annual State of the Island Economic Summit this fall.

Referred to as the ‘Tech Humanist’ by companies like Google, Etsy and Cisco, O’Neill will share her optimism about the role of technology in the world, along with providing a firm reality check. O’Neill strives to help humanity prepare for a more technology-centric future by teaching companies how to design data-driven experiences that are both more profitable for business and more meaningful for humans.

Graham Truax, executive director and entrepreneur in residence at Innovation Island, sees the immediate value in O’Neill’s presentation at the Summit.

“Kudos to the VIEA Summit for going back to the future. The time is right to seriously consider entering or expanding in the digital economy and I know many companies in our region who are developing hybrid business model strategies as they adjust to restarting, recovering and re-imagining what’s possible.”

The Summit takes place October 27-29 in an all-new digital format featuring a number of virtual sessions and keynote presentations on topics trending in both the global and local economy, such as Indigenomics and reconciliation, aquaculture and post-secondary education.
