Cowichan change makers have joined forces to move the dial on how the region is perceived. How do they do it?

Economic development, chamber organizations and members of the business community in the Cowichan Valley region have been working together to play to their collective strengths and form new partnerships.

Hear from some of these change makers in the Cowichan about the journey at the State of the Island Summit – how things are being done differently, what the shifts in perception are, what is working and what remains to be achieved.

One of the big changes has been to focus on building trust relationships between businesses and the various organizations that serve them. This panel session will uncover how the Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Cowichan, MNP, and Community Futures Cowichan have worked together to hold a series of sector consultations in the region – and how they’re hoping to build a better bridge between business and local government as a result.

In addition, business leaders from the Cowichan Valley, Carol Taiji of Taiji Brand Group and Alana Elliott of Libre Naturals, will be talking about how their perceptions of the Cowichan Valley are evolving and how they’re seeing a younger cohort of skilled workers who want to make their home in the region.

This Summit session is sponsored by Black Press.
