Economic Summit features Climate Action and Clean Tech

What can communities do about climate change?

The Islands Trust Council has declared a climate change emergency in the Gulf Islands. In March the Council voted unanimously to join Vancouver, the Capital Regional District, Los Angeles, London, and a growing number of regional and local governments internationally in calling for an urgent response to the threats and costs posed by climate change.

Moderated by Siraz Dalmir of FortisBC, Craig Brown and Summer Gould from ICLEI Canada will join Scott Colbourne, Gabriola Trustee of Islands Trust, in a panel session that will dive into community adaptation and mitigation in response to climate change at the State of the Island Summit this fall.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a global network of more than 1,750 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. They work to influence sustainability policy and drive local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development in over 100 countries.

Thank you to FortisBC for sponsoring this critical session.
