PILOT PROJECT DESIGNED FOR MATURE WORKFORCE IN VICTORIA HOSTS OPEN HOUSE SEPTEMBER 16, 2009

Victoria, the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance has recently entered into a Labour Market agreement with the Province of BC with a project entitled Gray Skills.

The purpose of Gray Skills is to deliver a unique program which will enhance the employability and
long-term employment of mature workers, over 54 years of age, and fill employment gaps which now exist in various employment sectors on Vancouver Island.

The project, delivered by ETHOS Career Management Group, is being piloted in the Victoria region and will link mature workers to current job vacancies in the Victoria Labour Market. Gray Skills will introduce employers to the benefits of employing mature workers and enable more collaboration between government, business and employment agencies to address employee skill shortages and retention issues.
