The Vancouver Island Economic Alliance is pleased to announce that Premier Horgan will speak at the Opening Luncheon of the 13th annual ‘State of the Island’ Economic Summit. The Summit will be held at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo October 23 and 24.
John Horgan was sworn in as Premier of British Columbia on July 18, 2017. He began his service as an MLA in 2005, when he was elected to represent the riding of Juan de Fuca on Southern Vancouver Island.
He has been re-elected three times, most recently as MLA for the new riding of Langford-Juan de Fuca in 2017. He became leader of the BC NDP in 2014.
Under his leadership, the B.C. government is increasing the affordable housing supply and working to moderate the real estate market; providing child care fee reductions and creating new licensed spaces around the province; and, eliminating Medical Services Plan fees, freezing ferry fares, and removing bridge tolls.
The government is also delivering better, faster health care for people in all corners of British Columbia; building new schools and improving learning environments; and, making record investments in transportation and infrastructure to create good jobs and more liveable, connected communities.
Premier John Horgan and the B.C. government is investing in the people of British Columbia to build a strong, sustainable economy, deliver the services people count on, and make life better and more affordable for everyone in B.C.
“We are thrilled to have Premier Horgan joining us at the Economic Summit. It is always valuable to have the Premier provide insightful update on the economic state of the province as well as perspective regarding issues vital to our success on Vancouver Island.” – Mark Smith, VIEA Chair
